Ways the T1F supports you

As seen under “Our Impact” here is just SOME of the things we can do to support you.

CARE PACKAGES

To date has distributed over 1300 care packages to families all around Australia at diagnosis, in hospital or on arrival at home. In 2020, we have delivered over 590 newly diagnosed care packs to a child who has been with type 1 diabetes.

Lou the Dog our cuddly mascot has kept over 890 children smiling in hospital and upon diagnosis.

TYPE 1 MUM DINNERS

Introduced Type1 Mums Dinners nationally, with over 12 events planned all around Australia. Type1 Mum ambassadors in each town act as hosts to connect mums from all over their cities or towns. These incredibly popular dinners are a relaxed evening full of laughs, stories and understanding. They are important in connecting all mums living with Type1 Diabetes themselves or a parenting a child with it.

Facilitating and funding Type1 Mums Dinners, launching them interstate and into over 10 towns connecting over 60 families. These Dinners are relaxed, inclusive, friendly and very popular amongst our Type1 community. “The Type1 Mums Dinners are the glue that sticks our community together, as you connect the mums then you connect the whole family”.

TYPE1 DIABETES LIONS CAMPS

Facilitated and funded 4 Kids Diabetes Camps, Surfing weekends for families living with Type1 in Anglesea Vic. Allowing over 80 families to attend camp with no financial barrier.

Subsidised family camps for over 30 plus children, to allow them to attend Kids Diabetes Camps at no cost.

3 Partnering with Lions, we host Teenage Camps for youth over 15 years of age. We have 3 planned for 2022, in Queenscliffe Vic, Rathmines, NSW and Sunshine Coast, Qld. Camps are facilitated in partnership with Lions Australia. Please get in touch to find out more information.

Going on Type1 Teen Camp Koala has been absolutely life changing for my son. The friendships and support are so important. He actually didn’t want to go to camp originally but is so pleased he went. The support of other kids that “get it” has had a huge impact on him. His bgl levels have never been so good- a little bit of competition between them all to stay in range with the “happy bob” app has done wonders( he is just a little bit competitive!!! Lol) I am sure he has made friends for life whilst on camp. Thankyou so much to everybody involved.
— Type 1 Mum, Nicole
